Question:

how do you clean your carpets?

Besides vacuuming, how do you maintain white carpeting? Personally I have found that using a storebought steamer makes my carpets look dingier. A person I knew at one time told me about a dry cleaning method using some kind of powder. She told me she rented the equipment and it only cost about thirty dollars. I've researched this and don't have any idea where to go. Links to more info. would be helpful.

Answer:

I like using the dry powder method because it is so simple, no rental machine needed. You just sprinkle it down, agitate with a brush on a stick, let it dry and vacuum it up. It has brighteners in it and freshens up the look of carpet without leaving a detergent residue. Most Manufacturers also prefer customers use a dry granule method of cleaning carpets as it is not so hard on the fiber. Resolve and Capture both make them, as does Chem-dry.
I spot clean with 409 heavy duty traffic foam carpet cleaner but once a season i clean the rugs professionally as it makes the color last longer, in fact i am getting ready to do the fall cleaning the first part of october../.
With a vacuum. That's what any normal person would do!
Kirby vacuum with shampooer kit, works miracles on my white carpet.
