Question:

how do you work on a Chevrolet school bus brake system?

Hello I have a 1970 chevy school bus. It‘s a small one, about a 5 ton truck size single axle . I need to redo the brakes and under the drivers side are two tanks that look like vacuum resivoires. what are they and how do I work with them when I bleed the brakes. the bus had a 400 small block gas engine. Also the tanks have ford parts stickers on them. Please help. Thanks!

Answer:

a block of styrofoam at the bottom should do it you can also use rocks, sand or pebbles
Put a layer of rocks in bottom of pot.you can also add sand to the soil for drainage. Good luck
are You out of Your mind? school bus brakes are not a game to play. safety safety safety
Could be air brakes. My dad had an old truck that had air brakes on it and as I said it was old, if you started it up and didn't wait for the air pressure to build up you didn't stop unless you pulled the emergency brake. Later he used it just to haul hay from the field to the house. It was kind of like operating a train locomotive at that point. One person for the driver and a second person as the brakeman.
