I have a senior art show for college comming up soon and I have to price all my projects but I am not sure how to go about thatIt's all hand woven items: 2 scarves, 1 hallway rug, 1 shawl, 4 placemats, 2 pursesDoes anyone know how to figure this up or know of a website I can refer too? thanx.
There are many ways to price your itemsSome will price them by charging an hourly rate 6 hrs to make something times $10.00 hr the priceSome will figure out the cost of the materials + the number of feet in the piece+plus how hard it was to do the designthe priceSome will just set up a flat fee as so much per item depending on Ahow hard it was to make Bhow long it took to make Chow expensive the weaving materials are Dif it is for a regular or new customer or for a friend or family memberIn doing custom pieces some fiber artists will also give a discount if the customer supplies the yarn or other fibers used No matter how you come up with the price, remember that you don't want to price yourself out of the market If you charge too high a price will your items sell? if it's too low then people may think you don't think much of your workCan you check around and see what others have sold their items for at the last year or two of the shows? That's how we did it when I was putting my things in art showsI had hand knitted itemsCan you check online with other fiber artists websites and see what they sell their finished items forThese should give you some ideas, good luck.
go to youtube, there are tons of videos to check out, any videos for anything, you name it.
