Given the alternative i could elect a ideal loader each and every time All that bending down with a front loader is,nt stable on your back Plus you cant provide up and open a front loader such as you could a ideal one
Consumer reports rates LG WM0642H[W] as the best front loader. Frigidaire, GE, whirlpool, and Kenmore have the fewest major repairs listed for toploaders. Whirlpool, LG, and Kenmore, have the fewest for frontloaders. If you do not take the consumer reports magazine, your local library may have it.
Whirlpool and LG top loaders are both good brands. LG also has a front loader that will wash then dry your clothes in the one machine. Its costs less than a washer and dryer.
A front-loader, while more expensive, is definitely better than a top-loader. It uses far less water (therefore less soap and energy to heat the water), cleans the clothes better, and is much quieter (once it's done filling up, you can hardly tell it's running). And, to offset the more expensive price, you can sometimes get Energy Star and water-saver rebates. The cheapest one I found was a smaller size (3.5 cubic foot, versus 4.2 cubic foot large capacity) GE washer and matching dryer for $1000 delivered at Home Depot a couple years ago. The Maytag Duet series is a good mid-priced set (about $1400 for the pair). Then just about any of the really expensive brands ($2000 and up) would work pretty well. And, of those, LG is probably the least expensive.
I bought a Kenmore front loader. I love it! The saleswoman did give me an important piece of advice about these washers: Always plug them into a SURGE PROTECTOR. It's the electronic control panel that goes out first due to surges in electricity in your home.
