56 is too cold. Wait till spring and buy a replenish pack and try again. Also try and find a bubble wand brine shrimp need a lot of oxygen in the water because they live in such heavy brine making dissolved oxygen less plentiful.
1) A stud is always the first jewelry for a new piercing. Rings are not easy to clean and cause irritation, infections and nasty bumps on new piercings. So he did the right thing. 2) Lol do not use shaving cream and never ever use alcohol on a new piercing. Alcohol irritates the piercing and will cause infections. You clean a new piercing with antibacterial soap ( alcohol and perfume FREE ) and a q-tip. Clean it around the ring as well gently and thoroughly. Rinse with water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Do that 2-3 times a day. 3) A piercing needs from 3 to 6 months to fully heal. It also heals from the outside in, so you might think it's healed after a while but it's not in the inside. It's still an open wound. Wait 6 full months to do so if you want to keep yourself and the piercing healthy. Bumps from infected nose piercings are nasty, common and stubborn, so take the safe road and do it right. 4)No professional piercer would suggest that. Do not use olive oil and do not twist it. You should never touch it or play with it until it's fully healed but only touch it with freshly washed hands to clean it. 6) You know if a piercing is infected when yellow or green fluids or pus are coming out of the hole. White and clear discharge is normal and part of the healing process. Most bumps are also a sign. If it gets infected you treat it with sea salt soaks. Non iodized salt + warm water. Soak the piercing in for 10 minutes, 2-3 times a day until the infection clears up. :-)
