Question:

I just bought a digital card reader/writer and have no idea how to use it?

I have plugged it into the computer with the memory card in it but cannot figure out how to use it. help

Answer:

remove the memory card. unplug the reader. plug the reader back in then plug the memory card in. It should open a dialogue that gives you options. Choose the one that says open folder then drill down into your photos. Alternatively, go to My Computer and look for a drive you have not seen before E/F/G typically (C is normally your main drive and D your DVD or CD drive). These instructions assume you are using XP or Vista, if the operating system is earlier than those then you will need to install drivers for the card reader. Try the makers website.
You need to put the card in then go to My Computer and add things to the new drive.
Card readers usually work as a bridge to get to the card itself. Usually the way it works out is that you can see it as a hard drive and put any information you wish in there. If you are into the digital picture and videos then when you insert your card on the reader and plug it in that is what you will see (pictures and video files). There will be folders there depending on the camera you have where the pictures and videos are stored. Hope to help you with this.
Did your computer do a little pop-up saying new hardward was detected. To use it, you would need to go to my Computer it probably shows up as another Drive on your computer where you can access the files from.
