Can I go through the stud? Are there any more options for puttig up these curains? Help!
You can get special fixings for studded walls that spread the load and make it secure - you may need a professional to do it for you as I think you might need special tools.
You'll need to take out enough studs to accommodate the door and then you'll need to frame it up as you would a door or window opening. If it's a load bearing wall you'll need to temporally brace the ceiling up before you take the studs out, and do the necessary work. Good luck
This sounds like a good thing. If you get in a stud then it'll be a lot stronger and you wont have to worry about falling.
I'm hoping your talking about wooden studs or this will sound stupid. Just use wood screws! When they install a door or window on an outside wall there is a large double board on top called a header. This header holds the weight that would normally be supported by studs if the opening was not there. Therefore, you will have wood all the way across the opening.
It is always the hope for hanging curtains and pictures that one lucks out and hits a stud. Then one knows that their hanging item will stay put. Some contractors when doing custom homes will actually put up extra wood inside of the wall, (like a 2x6 or a 2x8 across the studs), to accommodate curtain hanging. You actually have lucked out and should hang your curtains nice and secure onto that wood that you've found! Most likely your thumping into either the header or specially placed wood for curtain hanging. It is a GOOD thing to find solid wood to hang stuff onto! Below is a good picture of what you're hitting inside of the wall:
