Other than not being able to go offroad as much as a 4WD. 2WDs are usually less expensive. Cheaper to fix and generally not as complicated as 4WDs are. You will be fine in the country with a 2WD as long as you remember that hwen driving off the highway. 2wds will still go through alot of muck with a good set of mud tires but be careful.
2 wheel drive has advantages and disadvantages. First off, 2 Wheel Drive may get you another MPG or two. Secondly, it is much less costly to work on a 2 wheel drive vehicle vs. a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, I think the advantage of having 4 wheel drive rules out all the disadvantages. I can't tell you how many times having 4 wheel drive on our vehicles has saved me from spending hours trying to get out or wait for help. If you live in the country I would definitely recommend 4 wheel drive. Oh, and you can haul anything with a 2 wheel drive vehicle that you can haul with a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
