CFL light bulbs are a joke. They contain mercury, are only manufactured in CHINA and are not supposed to be disposed in the garbage (have to take them to a hazardous waste facility, like paint and car batteries). I'm not kidding. When the funds allow, consider getting solar panels to help with heating and electricity costs. They are expensive, but you will save tons in the future and it helps get you off the grid. Wash clothes only in cold water, insulate hot water heater (every little bit helps) unplug anything and everything possible when it's not in use. Edit: So, you're not really interested in Greening up then. You're concerned with cost effectiveness. Two very different things.
