Permanent press is anything nylon, polyester - anything synthetic. Woolens are sweaters Delicates are underwear I sort by color and color only. I've learned that delicates actually wash better on the regular cycle with other items than they do on the delicates cycle by themselves. Wash all in warm with cold rinse on the permanent press cycle. It's truly not a science. I don't even know why they put so many options on washers. Not too many people ever use them.
