I have read in some articles about roofing that it is recommended to use attic roof insulation in ones roofing. Is this true?
Its normal to have a insulated attic.. I once noticed a neighbor--that used a large exhaust fan..and his roof was bowed.. He also would use alot of firewood in his house.. I think that moisture somehow--damaged the attic area--/
here in the uk not only is it necessary ..its the law ..under building control up to 250mm 10" of fibreglass is needed ...it keeps house warm in winter and cool in summer
If it's an unfinished attic space, you'll want insulation on top of the ceiling, but not in the rafters which would prevent airflow from your soffit to the ridge vent or gable vent if you have that. You need it on top of your ceiling to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
It's advisable to insulate the roof area attic to help keep the rooms below warm as heat escapes through the ceilings, but not so much if there is insulation in the attic! It's personal preference. Cheers
