Question:

is the dsl cable/data cable that comes with a modem the same as regular telephone cable?

cause i need about 100 ft of it

Answer:

usually not. In most homes phone wire contains four conductors (but may contain more in new buildings and upgraded installations). Data cable is always 8 conductors, each two conductors are twisted together to minimize noise on the wires (to increase the integrity of your data during transmission). So data cables need special jacks and receptacles to accommodate the eight wires. You can buy the cable at home supply stores, in my area there's a separate aisle in the electrical dept for it. However I suggest that you look around and find someone who KNOWS how to terminate the cable, because you need to know how before you attempt this, and your question tells me you don't know. So this is my best advice. Best wishes.
dsl cable is diffrent. if you have a wired phone in the house, look at the handset, and it's simular to the plug that plugs into the handset. it looks like a little square kind of thing.
No For the cable between the modem and the computer, You will notice the cable plug is twice as big with twice as many pins, called a Cat-5 cable
