Question:

Is there a way to sell/give away scrap machinery?

We have an old furnace, among other machinery, that is in need of removal for space purposes. It's not in current working condition (though it probably could be made to be so). Is there a place to post this or call to get rid of it? I'm sure the scrap metal value is worth a considerable amount, but I just want it out. Greenville, SC, if that makes a difference.

Answer:

put it on craigslist for free or a small price
Hello,Yes you should have no problem getting rid of it. Just advertise it on craigslist or even better, just respond to an add that people put up wanting to remove old cars for free. There are tons of listings in there for stuff like that now. Recycling prices are getting high. Even for shred metel { which is probably what you have} the prices are around 6 to 7 bucks per hundred pounds. If you think you have several thousand pounds call around to the scrap metel places them selves and see if they will come and get it. You will get a portion of the money. Some scrap metel places are now doing the pickup deal, and even bringing 40 yard dumpsters for people to load up. It really depends on the estimated weight as to what I would do. I would even consider a roll back to come and split the money with me. Ok , I just been rambelng along here, sorry. Anyway, I hope I helped some. btw- I just cleaned up the back yard where I recently moved into. Old lawnmowers and just a bunch of junk, took it down to the recycler and got $75. That was on a short bed pu. Scott
Craigslist is good idea or contact local scrap company and they may be able to come and pickup or you can take there and get some $$. For pricing of scrap metals you can try www.scrapmetalpricesandauctions.c...
