..I have never had one and am considering getting one for my dad. But I don't know which one would suit him better..He would mostly use it for downloading brochures and a few business articles, nothing to fancy though. and then maybe a book or two? are any of these for him?

The rod will rust out after awhile if it is really old, then I would check to see what is in the ground, and keep in mind the Lightning can ricochet off the rod and hit near-by items and people. It is mainly to protect you in your house. Not to force all the lightning around into the ground. I am afraid of electric every since my mother grounded me when I was a kid for playing with electricity.
