Question:

How much gun powder is in a typical fire cracker compared to a .22 round?

My friend lit off a fire cracker for nostalgic reasons today, and it was a nice loud crackI just picked up my new semi auto .22, and assumed from prior experience that it would be louderHowever, when we got to the range, it sounded much quieter, and much less of a crackI figure it would be louder if I was on the business end of the rifle given the physics involved, but the round itself is much smaller than a firercracker So the question popped into my headThanks! peace and love happy v day

Answer:

First of all, modern firecrackers don't have gunpowder at allThey are made with flash powder which has a large amount of powdered aluminumthe reason the firecracker is louder than your .22 rifle is the fact that the firecracker is un containedThe .22 cartridge, being contained directs all it's gas in one directionDepending on barrel length, the powder gases might have reached maximum expansion before the bullet exits the barrelIn which case you actually are hearing the crack of the bullet breaking the speed of sound, not the sound of the powder explosionShort barreled .22 pistols can be very loud, but the longer the barrel, the quieter the reportDoc.
Popcorn is not always hot for asbestos, if home is built after 1986 your very ok usuallyeven if built after 81 for the most partWhen in doubt, get a testI usually test in several areas to make surePopcorn is in range from 1% to 3% asbestos if it has any at allSecondly, research differs but, some asbestos forms are much more dangerous than the Chrysotile in PopcornBlue asbestos is one of the worst, although not proven completely yetIf you're really worried, here are some things you can tryGet an asbestos test, done by a licensed Consultant who can include the survey with itHere in california its a CAC Certified Asbestos ConsultantIf the results come back HOT.-get it abated, if you dont want to or cant afford itUse a true HEPA vac of 99.97% effectiveness to vacuum things up in the futureSo your not blowing the stuff back outDont mess with the popcorn!! DONT SMOKEIf you smoke-quitpeople who smoke and are around asbestos are way, way more prone to have problems, as the lining and mechanisms in throat to catch asbestos are laid down and paralyzed with the tars in cigarettesThats why they cough in the morning is that the paralyzed areas are waking up again, hence they begin to cough, then the next cigarette calms and paralyzes them againTry changing the filters in the AC Heater unit Dont worry so muchAsbestos is everywhere, Organic brakes on your car, clutches, Vinyl flooring, vinyl flooring tiles, drywall joint compound, heater ducting, insulation, fire rated doors, roofing, mastics, and gasketsWhen you go to Cancun on your vacation-many many roofs are Techos de Asbesto or 100%asbestos corrugated roofingIt puts your popcorn into perspective huh? Sadly I take out asbestos popcorn, drywall and ducting yet my own house has popcornI just dont mess with it.
