I've known two people whose water heaters failed within a couple of days of a major fire on their block. In both these cases, the fire department used nearby hydrants and ran through a few hundred gallons of water, at least. A few of us were talking, and someone theorized that in the houses where water heater damage occurred, someone had done something to lower the water level in the tank, like doing laundry or taking a bath, and that the lowering of water pressure to all the houses in the immediate service area caused the water heater to refill too slowly. Empty or low water heaters burn out elements or crack tanks, so - VOILA! - water heater failure.Does this theory make sense? Have you ever heard it before?
Winter tires can be used in the summer. The main difference between summer and winter tires is their stiffness. The winter ones are softer, because even when it gets cold, they still have to be soft enough to get traction. So when it get hot, they're very soft which means they practically stick to the road (this causes their rapid wear).
John Manville was the biggie asbestos was used in insulation for it's fireproofing properties.
The full faced helmets are better but an open face is legal, I've used both. Both are perfect until you land face down. The open face is a lttle cooler.
