Question about struts and changing tranny fluid?

I have a 90 lumina 3.1 with 153000 miles. I have been experiencing a very rough ride and thumping sounds from the rear of my carit seems as if I turn a corner and the opposite side of my car of the way I‘m turning lifts off the ground and comes back downthe back of the car doesn‘t bounce when bounced on.it just sits there.is this bad struts? Also, I‘d like to get my tranny fluid changedI have torque converter shudder and no other problemsthe fluid is pink and hasn‘t been changed in about 80000 miles.I worry about changing the fluid as a preventative measure and having my tranny act up afterwards.

Answer:

The suspension problem is two fold. Firt that knocking and the car lifting off the ground is your CV (Constant Velocity) joint which is the driveline that transferrs power from the engine to the transmission. It's very rare for a tourge converter to shudder. Most likely it's your CV joint causing the shudder. Struts are on the front and shocks are on the back. With your cars milage I would replace them all. I would not worry about changing the transmisssion fluid just you. After replacing the CV joint you will know for sure if you have a bad tourque converter. Most likelu the shudder problem will be solved by the CV joint then you can change the transmission fluid and don't forget the filter change.
