Question:

Replacing bike wheel question?

Ok, I‘m a bike newbie and need help on replacing my bike wheel. My road bike currently have 26‘‘x1.95 wheel with mountain bike tires. I really want to switch them to road bike wheels that are 27‘‘. My question is will the a 27‘‘ wheel fit into my bike. Pretty sure my bike should be around 56cm-58cm (I‘m 5‘8 but when on it I have to tippy toe). So would replacing my wheel with 27‘‘ wheels fit my bike? Thanks in advance

Answer:

no 27 is WAY bigger many other reasons that won;t work wle
27 tires wheels will not fit on a bike that came from the factory with 26 tires wheels. End of story.
Physically the wheel and tyre has a good chance of fitting into the frame, but the brakes will not operate on the wheel rims. The bike frame is made to take 26 wheels and these are the wheels to use. The wheel size will not affect the size of the frame or the relationship between your size and the frame. If you are suggesting that you are 5 feet and 8 inches tall, I would suggest that a bike frame size of 50 cms (20 inches) would be more suitable.
