Question:

run flat tire slow leak?

i have a bmw 2006 with a slow leak on the tread. one of the tire dudes told me to put fix a flat good or bad? I went to two tire shops they both told me i should replace the tire. I just have a slow leak on the tread, there isn‘t a nail, just a slow leak that i have to put air like every 6 days or so. Once i added fix a flat the leak stoped. what should i do?

Answer:

ok as for the above comment the guy is an idiot. As a rule of thumb yes fix a flat makes a tire a ***** to work with. The fact though is you have a tire that cannnot be fixed. I'm guessing you meant the leak is on teh side wall. Most tire places wont patch the side walls. So instead of buying a new expensive tire put in fix a flat until your budget can afford a new tire.
I think it used to be called the 'tiller', and the position is called the helm.
All depends on the type of vessel {boat}
A tire will leak because of a hole which in most cases can be repaired if its not to big or in the side wall or a rim leak between the tire and wheel which can also be repaired. If the tire is old or dry rotted it should be replaced. NEVER NEVER put in fix a flat it is garbage that fill your tire with liquid goo and makes a real mess inside and you will never get it balanced. Only an IDIOT would advice someone to drive on a tire with fix a flat in it until they can afford to get a new one. If you choose to put that crap in you should only drive from that spot to the tire store. That is also what spare tires are for.
Adding fix a flat basically screws your rim(weight/gunk thing) Plus hot days gunk resettles throwing whole tire off damaging tread/suspension/ system handling. However a leaking tire has a cause. 2006 so the tires are new like yes? A hard hit to distort rim possible but unlikely fix a flat cures. Dirty bead on rim when tire placed on. a grain of german quartz on rim bead and the tire leaks. Should have returned to dealer as it was their problem to fix. Unless you put different tires on in which case good old American dirt/sticker was on rim bead and you should have made the tire guys fix it. Was the tire bubble tested? Did you know the exact location or was the leak guestimated. Why put $5 can of crap into a tire/ vehicle like that?? But it is stoped(sic) AND you must be happy so why are you asking? Me thinks you have heard what I just told you. I would not want to go very fast in that car unless you're looking for insurance payback. which may not when they find you operated with known defect.You probably also voided whatever warranty you had as well from both tire and/or dealer. And yes it's easy to tell what you did. NOT nearly as easy to fix now though. GOOD LUCK.
