Question:

Security System Help!?

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE Station Wagon. This is the families only car, and we have a infant in the house. We don‘t have money to go to a dealer or a shop to fix it. If you do go to the dealer they tell you like $600.00. The problem is that when my dad tries to start the car, the THEFT light keeps on flashing and won‘t let the car start. My dad has to turn the key back and forth and then after a couple of minutes(20-30 min) the theft light turns off and then the car starts. If you can tell us what the reason is and how maybe we can just disconnect the alarm because we don‘t need it. Please help us someone as we don‘t have any money. Thank you in advanced.

Answer:

On a chevy you can pull the fuss, it is the number 40 fuss on a 2000 Malabu that is under the hood. Only trying to help. Or maybe unhook the battery it may reset it.
Since the alarm system is factory you cannot disconnect it, but instead the computer will need to be scanned so that the problem can be located and repaired, remember than the vehicle doesn't have to be taken to the dealership but rather a certified independent auto repair shop can help you.
