Question:

shaky stearing wheel ?

i was driving and hit a black patch of ice and slide into a curve with the stearing wheel all the way turned . my tire was not flat although the rim was a lil dented in.but now my stearing wheel shakes when i hit about forty.does any body know what this means??? and how much it cost to fix??

Answer:

Your tire may be out of balance. You may have thrown a weight in the incidence. Have that tire balanced.
Wheel is probably out of round or out of balance. This is a symptom of shaking or vibration at certain speeds. Go to a mechanic and have it checked out. You may have lose a weight or need to replace the rim.
It doesn't take much of a hit for the wheel to be bent enough to make it shake. Get a new wheel (or junkyard wheel) to replace the one that smacked the curb. Put your old tire on it if it wasn't damaged and have it balanced by a tire shop.
