Question:

sometimes my car will jerk when i press the gas pedal in or lift up any ideas about whats wrong with it?

the car is an 87 lincoln town car and as i said the car will often hesitate when i press the gas pedal in or let it out all the way i think something is sticking can anyone help.

Answer:

Since your car is quite old, you'll need to check on 2 things. 1. you need a tune up - you need to make sure everything is A-OK to attain good combustion. clean air filter, fuel filter, newly changed oil, ignition system - distributor, spark plugs, wires, etc 2. check on your engine mounts - the rubber around it should still be in tact, if not, the engine might be loose and could be the cause for the jerking
I would recommend getting it checked over. Its quite possible that your car is just worn out. Check the throttle, should pretty easy to spot on an 87. Try moving it with your fingers, if it feels stiff or 'sticky' then try some WD40 and see if you can get it moving more freely.
