I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9L v8. Which one is goin to give me the most horsepower? Around how much hp will I get?
CAI----0 HP Chips- depends on which one you get. More of a waste of money to be honest unless you get the programmer the whole nine yards. But you need to think more of engine first. Usually plugging a supercharger on a Pinto only holds up for only so long til it dies. I would guess you had a lot of miles which would be against you meaning the more you pushed the engine, the higher your chances are that it go. But chips dont give out that much HP, may be 50HP if your lucky that much you will never tell the difference But CAI are a joke, if your factory intake system is in good shape, that is your best CAI you can have on your truck. The stock setup does not restrict air flow. Besides, most of those idiots that buy those get the ones that sits in your engine compartment exposed to the HOT engine temp which is defeating the purpose of adding the thing in the first place
If I am doing an install that switches from r-22 to r-410a then I would flush the system with rx11 flush , yes it contains refrigerant and it is designed for this as well as flushing line set after compressor burnout. Then use nitrogen.
I'm with Al hw on this one,the textbooks are all fine dandy,. until you have to do it for real. The reality is that for an R22 to R410a changeover the suction line is different diameter. Thats a huge mistake alot of cut rate contractors make. Yes the lines can be flushed (first with this stuff called pro-flush then with nitrogen only) and used but they will never run as designed.
The question has pretty much been answered but in response to callipygenous, he (Steven J) is basically reading it from the book. Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning does indeed *mention* all three methods ,refrigerant, Dry CO2, and Dry nitrogen, but I agree with you completely. Dry nitrogen is what is almost always used in practice. The asker also added that he is just looking to see what the tech may have to do, and I don't believe he is going to try it himself. Al Edit: WHOOPS! make that HERself. Sorry Susan.
