I'm gonna be preforming at my school's talent show and I need help o_o First off, I'm not conformable with mics because they make my voice deeper and I'm afraid to sing too close to them. Also, when I sing I belt/project so it's not gonna be good being close to the mic unless you like being deaf o_oI know the songs by heart and the lyrics, but I get scared because I know only a few people will like it so I'm very self conscious....In a nutshell:How should I sing into a mic if I tend to get really loud?I'm left handed so would it be easier if my audience was to my left?Should I go Christ Martin and close my eyes the whole time?
First of all, you don't PREform, you PERform. Secondly, its not CONFORMABLE, its COMFORTABLE. Thirdly, you have to use a mic to make yourself heard in the auditorium. Just back off from it, with your mouth no closer than 3 inches to it, and belt away. Remember that there will be someone running the PA system who will turn down the volume on the mic if you get too loud. I don't know what being left-handed has to do with the audience being on your left or right. The piano will already be set up on the stage and you probably won't have a choice about where the audience is. And don't assume that only a few people will like your singing or the song you're doing. Why wouldn't everyone like it? Believe in yourself and the song you're doing, and sing it like you mean it!
