Answer:

How big is the piece to be? A white low fire clay will suffice for most hand sized pieces, for larger projects you may have to use a clay containing GROG, no not the kind you drink, the kind which is small bits of bisque in the clay matrix.
yeah i say use a good fire clay with high grog amounts, this way you can fire it.or not and have a really good paintable surface, your more expensive alternative is Super Sculpey which is fantastic because you can bake it and stuff but its really expensive and fire clay is pretty suitable for your projectMake sure you use a good armature for that flower, clay wont really work on a thin leafy build unless there is a metal wire inside of itAnd as far as sturdy goes.regular good ol Plasticine should be sturdy enough.as long as you make a mold out of it and like make it in plaster so you can paint it
Yes, paper and those types of products can be made from this wasteCan you also sell it as stuffing for bedding and such? And it could be added (possibly) to plastic/wood materials to make composite materials for buildingThis would bring the cost down greatly I would thinkYou could also donate it for furniture and building materials for the homelessI am working with a non-profit org that is looking for materials for furniture as well as building materials I will think about this more and see if I can come up with anymore ideasI am an engineering student and we love to do this stuff! :)
