It's nearing the time to change batteries. That sounds like your problem
By that logic, doing anything shows lack of faith. If you get out of bed in the morning and go to work - that shows a lack of faith that God could provide for all of your needs. We are required to do what we can, and have faith that God will sort out the rest. A lightning rod is doing what we can.
When the batteries get cold (hence in the middle of the night) they can't hold the charge and so the smoke alarms chirps to let you know the batteries are on the way out. If the alarm goes into full alarm, and there is no reason for it, I know it sounds obvios but it's faulty so buy another one soon. In England the local Fire Service may offer to fit one for free. It might not be compatable with the electric ones but you will have a working smoke alarm fitted while you fix/renew the other one. BE SAFE DO IT SOON.
