i would like to make bottle cap jewelry, magnets and such. . . of course i would like to make as many bottle caps worth filling. also, will i have to fill the entire cap to receive the same curing/hardening benefit?

Lots of these digital clocks, if the alarm stays set on the same time to alarm, and is seldom changes, it contacts that trigger the alarm can burn out and the clock will not alarm on that setting. Change the setting some five or ten minutes and that should solve the problem. Funny that you and your mom set your clocks for the same time. I'd be willing to sat that I bet the clocks are the same brand and were bought at the same time/place, and you got hold of alarm clocks with the same lot number and same flaw.
