Question:

What is the crystal form of Quartz?

I'm doing a project for science and it's asking me what the crystal form of quartz is.Thanks! :D

Answer:

There's a bit of a conflict here... when you say fine ocean sediments formed of quartz, you define that sediment as having come from the weathering of quartz. And quartz, of course, is made up of a continuous framework of silicone-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4) But you included the word shells. And by that, most scientists reading this would assume you're referring to a biogenic structure. As in a clamshell, or another type of shell. No shell that I am aware of is made of quartz.
Obviously enough, it's formed from what it consists of which, in this case, would be microsocpic quartz shells.
