I have to agree with Catwig. This is a very good theory, very good deductive reasoning. I haven't had electrical problems or corrosive problems, but I do live in a southern state where we do not have to salt the roads.
Use a spray adhesive. For a temporary bond, coat either the poster or the surface to be applied to. For a permanent bond, coat both surfaces, and follow the directions on the can for attaching. Spray adhesive is made bu various manufacturers including Elmer's. It iss available at Home Depot and at art stores.
