Question:

Will a potential employer hold against me a discrimination suit I filed and won 13 years ago?

13 years ago I filed and won a lawsuit against and employer involving a firing due to discrimination. Winning was a nobrainer. However, being older and wiser now I would not do anything like that again, even if I am right. Filing and winning a lawsuit may seem to clear your name initially in a wrongful termination, but then there's a blackmark against you for simply filing the suit, it seems. I found out here on Yahoo answers that potential employers can and will find out about the old lawsuit. Will they hold this against me? Do potential employers really look for this sort of thing? Is there anything I can do to protect myself from being blackballed in the future?

Answer:

Walmart, Target, K-Mart, any auto parts store. Sears
