My Mazda 929 wipers quit when I started the car with a fresh heavy snowfall laying on them. The wiper motor is making noise now but nothing is happening. I can manually move them across the windshield. Time for a new motor or could it be somethimng else. (The fuse is intact). Thanks.
there's a linkage between the wiper motor and the wiper hands. This linkage has the two broken or come unfastened. maximum probable the linkage poped off. Open the hood and get rid of the canopy panel on the backside of the windshield. it relatively is the way you get entry to this linkage. you're able to be able to easily get away with popping the linkage back in place. make confident the two the wiper motor and the wipers are in the park place once you reinstall the wiper linkage. If the linkage is in place the wiper motor is broken and needs to get replaced. The motor isn't repairable. It could desire to get replaced.
Well if you can hear noises when you turn on and speed up the wiper system via the wiper control system that really tells you that more then likely a linkage arm has fallen off. Take the grill off that runs across the front windshield and has the wiper assembly running through it.If you remove that assembly you should be able to clearly see the whole linkage and wiper system's arms etc. One common problem is ppl try installing used or other wiper arm linkages and the system ends up with a loose arm still.Another problem is they need a new wiper motor and the bolts holding it in are so rusted that they can't get all the screws out or change the wiper motor. What I recommend is trying to find the whole wiper arm and motor and housing assembly and simply changing that one piece, that way you end up with extra spare parts and don't end up with the loose arm issues or rusted screw issue. Most of the U pick auto wreckers would allow you to remove that whole assembly for about 50 bucks or less. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if your handy with basic car stuff or have a friend this job really is a very simple job , but if you remove a wiper assembly be sure you take out the farthest screws first then work your way towards the centre screws.
yes. the motor is burnt. if you can move the windshield wipers manually then i would know somethings wrong. just take it to a repair shop, and they will install a new one for you, and/or tell you what else could be causing it.
