I have a 1999 Chevy Suburban 1500. I‘m having a leak from my rear left axle. I had the seal replaced at a mechanic for $400 but its still leaking. what can be the problem? Did the mechanic use cheap seals?
It could be he used cheap seals. It could be that he installed it wrong. It could be that the axle shaft is damaged. It could also be that he didn't do anything at all, and just charged you $400 for nothing. It could also be that the brakes are leaking instead of the axle seal.
Since you've already paid to have this leak repaired and it's still not done, take it back to the mechanic and get him to fix it like he was supposed to the first time.
You need to get in better shape before you hurt yourself. Talk to a physiologist about exercises to strengthen your back, or look online.
for $400 i would have expected a new bearing as well. some guys dont use lube on new seals and before you know it, they burn and are ruined. also id check the axle vent, if it plugs, no seal will ever hold on the axle because when heat and pressure build, it has no where to go. any other possibilities have been previously covered.
