Question:

Are there certain veterinarians that preform surgery?

Just like in the medical industry, where there are surgeon doctors, and medical doctors. Is it like this for veterinarians too?

Answer:

The general practioner (the vet that most people are used to that your bring your dog or cat to first when it needs stuff). Well the gp in vet med does common surgical procedures in addition to medical and preventative care. They do spays, neuters and other common things like foregin body removal, bladder stone removal ect... You can become a boarded vet. surgeon that does the more difficult surguries. To be one of these you have to graduate vet school, do a one year internship then a 3 year residency then pass an exam. To be a GP you have to graduate vet school.
yeah, they even have anesthesiologists, surgeons, desk tellers, lots of toher stuff. some vets specialize on some thing, where others specialize in others. =D
