I am looking at getting an x pipe and exhaust system. Is a bbk catted x pipe and American Thunder catback by flowmaster a good setup?
Whats the point of putting a quiet exhaust system on your ride, go all loud throw 40 series flowmaters, mach headers and 3 and half inch off road h pipes, get rid of your cat converters. It makes your ride sound like a beast, chicks dig it and ricers be scared of you. As long as you don't live in California or you don't get emmisions in your city do the full exhaust on your ride, my friend had a 99 Silver Mustang GT fully built exhaust sounded good cops didn't care, tht sucked though my friend wrap it around on I 25 guard rail at 80mph, it was a cool car too.
It seems to be a good choice of performance exhaust parts. An X-pipe will make more power than the stock H-pipe and the high flow cats will outflow the stock ones while keeping it legal and the engine running as it should. Flowmaster has always been a great exhaust brand and their Super 44 or 40 series mufflers sound awesome. I have the older 40 series on my own Mustang and I have no complaints of how great it sounds. You will get about 10-15 HP just bolting on that X-pipe and an aftermarket exhaust with no other mods.
You'll never notice the 2-3 horsepower you'll get with a performance exhaust. The ads for 20+ horsepower are complete nonsense. The only way to that much of an increase is to do some serious mods like a new induction system, new manifolds and porting and polishing the heads. Save yourself a few hundred and keep the stock system.
