I have a 98 dodge stratus engine 2.4. 4 cycinder. What does this mean? Do I need brake fluid? New brake?
check the fluid level in the master cylinder. after that, get the brakes looked at.

Since the brake system is sealed Low fluid is an indicator for worn brake pads. Car brake pads have a metal tab when that tab contacts the rotor it completes the circuit and turns the dash light on. This is to warn you that the pad is worn out and needs to be replaced. Since its a sealed system brake fluid can't leak out otherwise your pedal would hit the floor and you will not stop. You should never have to top up the brake fluid On older cars the level of the fluid indicated the wear on the pads This is true for new vehicles There are no indicator lights for low brake fluid.
