I was just wondering if CLR can remove carpet stains. If so, how would you use it? what are the steps?
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axQ9m If you have a hardware store, call them and ask if they have Lift Off by Motsenbocker. They have several different products for various stains. I think #3 should work fine for you. Don't use CLR, that's for rust, lime...it would probably melt your carpet. You have a combination of paint and oil. The oil comes out with dish soap and a lot of blotting, the mineral paint is the tricky part. If you find the stain just won't come out, cut a patch from an unseen area, closet, under furniture and switch them around. Use double sided carpet tape to glue down the patches. Seams are taped together, why not a patch?
CLR will take the color out of carpet too...
Read the insrtuctions on the bottle. I don't think it is advisable to use on carpet. Dawn dishwashing soap and water can remove some stains. Mix lightly and dab.
Not sure what CLR is, however I would like to tell you what not to use. Never use any products made for doing laundry as some can damage the dyes in nylon carpet. One drop of white or clear dish washing soap in a glass of water will remove most spots without adding to much soap to the carpet. Soap still in the carpet becomes sticky and a dirt magnet. Some dish soaps dyed various colors can dye the carpet. Food grade dyes such as those found in Kool Aid cannot be successfully removed without specialty products available to hot water extraction carpet/upholstery cleaners. These specialty cleaners for removing food dyes require extraction after they're used.
