The staircase is an interior long staircase with an enclosed space under it. I want to open up the space to create a small office under the stairs. My landlord thinks that the 2x4 studs that are space approximately 16 inches apart are holding the stair up. I say they are just there so you have something to attach the drywall to. who is right?
