I used the vista cable for back in the day when I was suffering through Vista, but now I have Windows 7 and need to transfer data to my new Windows 7 laptop. Will the old Vista cable work (does it even matter what operating system the cable is supposedly for?)
I believe so. Vista and 7 are actually pretty similar and I believe that the transfer wizard is entirely compatible for the two.
it's the same thing, a transfer cable. it's nothing to do with the os. what matter is if the transfer wizzard support different os, that i'm not sure
I'm guessing that the Vista transfer cable is nothing more than what's known generically as a Crossover or Null Modem cable. It has nothing to do with Vista, Windows 7 or any other operating system. In fact, it will work with ANY two computers that have Ethernet ports. Could probably work to transfer between a Windows computer and a Mac, even. Hope that helps.
