Question:

CAN YOU REPAIR A HEAT CHAMBER ON A COLEMAN FURNACE?

DGAA 056 BDT coleman 36000 btu coleman furnace has a hole in heat chamber and it will not stay lit.

Answer:

well patty here is where you may be in luck, coleman has a warranty if yours is under factory warranty, you will get a new furnace installed for 800 or 850.00 you may need to contact a local distributor to get someone who will do it. go on line to unitary products group, this is who makes the coleman, york, and luxaire.
No replace the furnace. Any repair attempted will leak. The furnace design is a safety feature in itself. An attempt to override it could be fatal.
Heat exchangers can be replaced safely. I'd check to see whether the heat exchanger is still under warranty as they are usually warrantied for at least 10 years - parts. If its not under warranty just get a new furnace.
This would be a do at your own risk. You can use high temperature caulking or refractory compound( the refractory compound is used in boilers you can get it at menards in a caulking tube) as a temp band aid. A carbon monoxide detector should be in place. Until you can get a replacement heat exchanger. Price it first and see how much the heat exchanger is, then decide if its worth fixing or replacing the whole unit. Might be cheaper to replace it. hard to say with out knowing cost. And you would have to do the work yourself. Should be a heat exchanger with gaskets included. You can call these guys for a price give the MN# of furnace. Nothing is impossible. In this case, don't do it, or have it done. Either have the heat exchanger replaced or get a new furnace. You're just kidding yourself if you try to repair it.
