do i twist out the axle or hit. i have a 05 gsxr and i wanna take the rim off and slide out the axle??

Answer:

Of course, undo all bolts, screws etc. Remember that the weight of the rim and tyre are resting on the axle and may make it hard to slide out. Try putting a wedge under the wheel to take the strain off the axle. I always had trouble removing the axles on my Harris Magnum as they were very precise fits. I would use a rubber mallet to get them moving without damaging the end of the axle. You need to get the weight off the axle and keep the wheel straight as you pull the axle out. It's a good idea to mark the spacers before they drop out so you know which side they go. They may be different and it may not be obvious to the naked eye. I draw a picture of where all the bits belonged before I removed anything.
Please don't HIT anything, Calm down here. Take a breath. There should be two little Allen bolts at the bottom of each side of the forks, loosen those first. The twist out the axle, sometimes if you apply wd40 overnight it will be loose my the morning. Be sure to remove the spacers on each side of the axle. And be sure to apply grease when you re-assemble it. (BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY WD40 ON ANY TIRE SURFACE. OR YOU WILL BE GOING DOWN LATER)
For future reference, always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer. GSXRs were made different sizes that year. Sometimes it could make a difference. Front or rear? The front forks hold the axle with pinch bolts - loosen them both and tap the axle through the wheel. Tap the axle through the rear wheel. Twisting won't do anything if the axle is rusted to the bearings or spacers. Lot's of times they have to be hit out with a hammer and drift (long thin punch).
