Question:

Do solid rear axles have boots?

So I‘m considering buying an 02 Toyota Tundra. I had the vehicle checked out and one of the things noted were that the rear right and left boots needed replaced. I am kind of confused. Maybe something I don‘t know about that is new, but I was under the assumption solid axles didn‘t have boots. I thought boots (to me also known as CV boots) were only on independent suspensions. Are there a different kind of boots that are on the rear? Thanks

Answer:

The rear axle does not have boots, the front axels do, they are CV joints and do have boots that need replacing if they leak.
ask who ever did the inspection to clarify what they wrote up
