Question:

Help with iron?

The red light on the side of my mom‘s iron GE model #B2620 keeps flickering on and off when she moves the power cord at the base of the iron. Should I replace the wiring, or should she just go ahead and get a new iron?

Answer:

The cords to these things are all moulded to fit, so you'd end up having to buy a new cord. For a few bucks more, you could get her a new iron.
I'd just get a new iron. They're not expensive and it'd be a sure fix.

Unless you're a electrical expert, you really have two options: 1. If the iron is irreplaceable, or worth more than $100 (although why you would have a $100 iron is beyond me), then take it to a repair shop, and it'll cost you between $20 and $50 to repair. 2. Otherwise, just go to Wal-Mart and get her a new one for less than $25.
