Question:

How long does it take to bleed a brake system?

I just changed the brake pads on my car on the front. How long does it take to bleed the system? Do I have to do all tires, or just the two front tires?

Answer:

have you bled a brake system before? it must be done properly so you dont get air in the system. The master cylinder must be kept full during the entire process or air may re-enter the system. While the assistant applies pressure to the brake pedal, start with the wheel that is farthest away from the master cylinder. Open the the bleeder screw allowing fluid and air to stream out. The assistant must keep the pedal down until the bleeder screw is closed. Then the process is repeated several times at each wheel until all the air has been bled out, be sure to keep the fluid level up in the master cylinder during this process.
about two minutes per side but yeah you probably don't need to if you never opened the system
It's not hard at all for a professional. DO NOT attempt this yourself. You need special tools and special skills to do it right. If you DON'T do it right, that rear end will howl like a wolf.
Go to a junct area and select a complete rear axle that match your requirement. You may have to do small modification to accomodate the cross joint. Gear ratio for truck is about 4,0. Lower than 3.5 is for sedan
Just for this time I would do all four. start from the one fartherest from the master cly. and work your way to the front. Keep checking the master to make sure it's not low. you will need another person to help you. they can pump up the pedal about 5 times and hold it and you can open up the bleeder screw to get the air out. keep doing it until you got all the air out then move to the next one. The next time you do this job, take off the master cly. cap then collapse the piston all the way back. put your new pads in and then all you have to do is pump up the pedal with out bleeding the system. It takes about a half a hour to bleed the brakes
