i have an 88 camaro and out of curiousity and possibly a new project, can you but aftermarked hvac controls and put them in a car? or can i go to a junk yard and take hvac controls out of a newer car and replace the older hvac controls? logically, even if i can;t find a wiring kit like head units use, i could figure out what wire is wich from the hvac control and car harness and go wire by wire, wich is kind of unrealistic in a way, they might even have different wires. my question is whether or not this is possible or a semi common thing to do, and how
you can customize the interior controls as you wish --- with the a/c controls, some are vacuum operated and others are cable operated or they can use electric switches and actuators ---- so, it is more of an issue of how much work do you want to put into the project?
