I have a 1991 Plymouth Sundance. The brakes don‘t work and emergency brake light stays on. what would be wrong and would it be fixable without a mechanic? Checked brake fluid and is full.
feels like your E brake cable is getting caught basically sufficient to maintain the contactors to your gentle on. possibly the least complicated restoration is to eliminate your rear wheels and have somebody pull the ebrake so which you will see that the place the linkage is and spray it with some WD40 on a similar time as they flow the shield up and down, it is going to chill out and you'd be returned in company. Do one wheel at a time and ensure to dam your front tires so as that it would not attempt to roll off of the jack once you're messing with the brake.
That model like others does not have an emergency brake. The brake you are referring to when put on auto-locks itself on because it is a parking brake. The light comes on to warn the driver that there is something not right in the braking system, and it is the first thought to check the parking brake to see if it is on. The parking brake is not the only reason for it to come on though. Low brake fluid is another reason for it to light up. Brake fluid is not consumed by the car though, and unless you are working on the brakes for some other reason you should not need to add fluid. So, you need to find the leak.
You need to bleed your brakes, they have too much air or water in the fluid. That or your pads need changing. Plenty of websites will tell you how it's done.
