My car has a leaking radiator. Does or will it affect my AC and heating also?
The answers are yes and yes. Stick in a new radiator if yours is more than ten yrs. old.
Yes it will affect it, it need to have plenty of water and coolant in it to perform propertly.
it won,t effect the ac because the ac has 1 seperate from your radiator. if you keep the radiator full, it won,t effect the heater.
When the radiator gets low enough you can overheat which is NOT good for you car. Potentially you could ruin your engine. Get the radiator fixed/replaced, much cheaper than an engine.
The radiator is a heat-exchanger for the car's engine, the AC heater controls the interior climate of the car, they're both separate systems. But, don't just ignore the radiator leak or you'll gonna have lots of problems when the engine overheats die out on you, like you've just killed you ride. You could end up with a hefty repair bill for the radiator the engine if the damage is really bad. Check out where the leakage is, if it's a simple hose leak, you can easily patch it up with some chewing gum, just put the gum with a hard cardboard backing over the leak tape it tight with masking/duct tape. This will last you for quite a while till you can get it properly fixed.
