and it doesnt rust fittings, i know the down side to it is its spongey brake feel but i think itl do i mean im not gona be racing and would prefer not to have the bike rust from the inside out like lower dots. anyone disagree?
A hydraulic braking system is a closed system, and no moisture can enter into the system unless you let it in. Therefore, changing to a higher class of brake fluid just because it doesn't absorb water is a waste of time and money.
bad idea, I'm more of a car mechanic than a bike wrench, but I've been told so many times to stay the hell away from dot5 on my cars that I haven't even tried it. They were pretty knowledgeable people, just throwing it out there, I really don't even have a reason. Bikes and cars use the same hydraulic system to operate bikes obviously, Dot3 and 4 will do you the same good, they absorb water to trap it, I'm not sure how dot5 works but you shouldn't have to worry about water in there anyhow!
Never Never never use DOT 5 in a motorcycle brake system. Dot 5 is for cars. Use DOT 3, DOT 4 or DOT 5.1. Dot 5 will eat seals and hoses if used in a bike system read your manual. All brake fluid absorbs water. The diffrence is they have different boiling points lower for 3 higher for 5.1
