I don't really think it could hurt, however they will probably suspect you just want to steal it. If you do offer to leave an ID with them or something, might make your chances a bit better. However, I'd recommend putting something in a backpack that weighs about the same and doing it that way.
I would call the web site of the blanket and ask them; If your blanket is flashing it could cause a fire; if the CONTROLLER is flashing it could be a short. Maybe you should return it and get a new one.
