Question:

Isn't there something in the Constitution about a Free Press?

What happens when our Free Press is hijacked by Free Money?

Answer:

Yes - It is in the first amendment. Now what happens when the free press is hijacked by free money is that someone gets the word out and then the FREE MARKET takes over. Because people want their press to be free from bias, a new someone or group starts a new paper to be free from the bias and people start buying that over the previous paper. This can apply to TV stations and radio as well.
First amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. What happens when our Free Press is hijacked by Free Money? The bought and paid for press fails. Case in point, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and numerous other liberal rags. Liberal radio can't get a toe-hold and conservatives like Limbaugh and Glen Beck dominate the market. You're welcome to start your own press and say whatever you want so long as you don't damage someone's reputation.
I think most of us have a love /hate relationship with the press, but a free press is one of THE most important things of a democracy........We need to make sure they stay on the level so we know what the hell is going on..........
First Amendment of the Constitution garauntees freedom of the press and free speech and freedom of religion. I never ever heard of free money before, that really sounds weird.
The problem with the press is not that they are operated on a “for-profit” basis. It’s more the fact that they are a tool of used by ideologues to mask their bias in a cloud of “objectivity”. The press has always been this way though. Even in the days of the Roman Empire there was a “press” but it was more in the form of oratory. It was always used to promote specific ideas. The Western concept of a “free-press” which is a press unencumbered by government allowed these individuals to hide behind the wall of security afforded them by the “press” label. The only thing that “big-money” has allowed them to do is promote their ideas with greater ease.
