depends on what type of lab; there will be specific precautions for chemical labs versus biological labs versus clean rooms. you can look up Chemical Safety Level (CSL) and Biosafety Level (BSL) for specifics. in general, you should treat anything you're working with in the lab (chemicals or biologicals) as hazardous. you should know the MSDS for what you're working with so you can properly clean up spills or exposure. ALWAYS were personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, lab coats, face masks, etc know how to properly opperate lab equipment know where the proper disposal areas are (such as sharps and biohazard containers, etc) make deliberate movementsno suddenly turning around or running around in the lab and REMOVE your protective equipment (and wash your hands) when you leave the laboratory area so as not to contaminate other areas.
